OpenStudy (luke69603):

what is threshold frequency????

OpenStudy (korosh23):

The theory of the photoelectric effect must explain the experimental observations of the emission of electrons from an illuminated metal surface. For a given metal, there exists a certain minimum frequency of incident radiation below which no photoelectrons are emitted. This frequency is called the threshold frequency. http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/db/Photoelectric_effect_diagram.svg/2000px-Photoelectric_effect_diagram.svg.png&imgrefurl=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photoelectric_effect&h=1345&w=2000&tbnid=XExwJLltWAvMDM:&zoom=1&tbnh=123&tbnw=184&usg=__WMjeT-zqjrCKqJLBdkgkpq-3HUw=&docid=qvmmvxu97jT4zM
