I need some help with this practice test if you don't mind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where is it?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Find the maximum height of the ball, given that the path of the ball is y = \[-\frac{ 1 }{ 20 }x ^{2} + 3x + 5\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what are your thoughts?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

I'm thinking that it's the vertex which is -b/2a I think so -3/(-1/20 *2) = 30?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you are correct, it is the y value of the vertex

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when x = 30, the y value gives our highest point

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so, what is the value of y when x=30?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

50!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

correct

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

That was a lot easier than I thought, thank you!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome
