Just to add to pizza4dayz' answer, she was captured by a faction loyal to the English (who were her enemies since she fought for France under Charles VII). Her English captors (who politically influenced the proceedings) didn't waste time in trying and convicting her of heresy (along with charges of "cross dressing" since she dressed and fought as a man during her battles against the English) as a result.
