Getting Help on OpenStudy has always been super easy. Now we want to supercharge help with the Ask a Qualified Helper feature set. We have selected a small group of helpers and have trained them. These “Ninja” Helpers are called the Qualified Helpers. (‘cos they are “qualified to help”.)

So the next time you are in a panic, need help fast, not getting a super explanation, click on the “Ask a Qualified Helper” button on your question.

We are also introducing OpenStudy currency, called OwlBucks. You need OwlBucks to Ask a Qualified Helper. You can use OwlBucks to purchase other items in Owlfred’s Emporium. See below.

You’ll be taken to a dialog box where you will be asked to buy OwlBucks. OwlBucks are OpenStudy’s currency.
Click on to the PayPal page. If you have a PayPal account, you know what to do. If you have a credit card, PayPal can take that too. So buy a pack of OwlBucks. You’ll need 10 OwlBucks to ask one question of a Qualified Helper.
Then we’ll deduct the OwlBucks for one question.
We send a message to all the Qualified Helpers who are there online in your subject.
A Qualified Helper will come to your question and help you. That’s it.

Remember we can only promise to connect you to an expert. We couldn’t line up enough Einsteins and Stephen Hawkings – so if your question is very complex, and the Qualified Helper is not able to help, send us a note and ask for a refund (QHreports@openstudy.com).

When you are done, give them a rating. They only get paid if you rate them. So be nice.

The usual rules apply. Be nice. The Qualified Helpers are a part of your community too. You could be a Qualified Helper one day!

They’ll give you explanations. As always if they think you are violating any of our policies – they can suspend you or report you.

If you are not happy with your experience, you can send in a complaint (QHreports@openstudy.com) and request a refund. A team of moderators and OpenStudy staff will read through your case and make a decision.

Why are we doing all this?
OpenStudy’s mission is to provide free study help for the world. To do this right, we support our site through advertisements. OwlBucks will be another way to raise our revenues so we can keep the site free for all, and yet have enough to support new features, new servers and new development.

And, most importantly, because it will be a lot of fun and in doing this, we can give something back to our best helpers!
