The answer is C, 
The pope Urban I was losing political power in Europe. The orthodox church in the east was menaced by the Muslims and as a result Alexius the head of the eastern church (Byzantine Empire) asked for financial aid to the pope. The pope saw this as an opportunity to regain power in the east and called for an spiritual war against the infidel (Muslims). The idea was to conquer the holy city of Jerusalem.In addition the pope offer Christians redemption of sins and guaranteed salvation. The Christian way of Jihad if you will.
