Base your answer to the following question on the following maps and your knowledge of civics:

Two maps of the presidential election results from 2008 are shown. One map shows results by county. The land area of counties won by Republicans is greater than the land area of counties won by Democrats. Another map of Presidential election results by state. Approximately half of the states show Democrat winner, and the other half show a Republican winner. Red areas are focused on center of country.
