How many 2-inch by 3-inch pieces of cake can be cut from a cake that is 12 inches by 24 inches?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

kind of an odd cake, sorta rectangular but anyhow so the cake is a 12 x 24 and the pieces are 2x3 how many 2x3 rectangles are in a bigger rectangle of 12x24 then? so |dw:1430347032459:dw| so the area of the 12 x 24 is, well 12 * 24 the area of the smaller pieces is 2 * 3 so, you're really being asked, how many (2*3) are in a (12 * 24) or \(\bf \cfrac{12\cdot 24}{2\cdot 3}\)
