@TheSmartOne @omarbirjas @Nnesha @jdoe0001

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for area i times everything together right?

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

noooooo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then what do i do?

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

ok lets take a look at the pic

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

we cut up the shaded region ino 2 parts. a rectangle and a trapazoid.

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

find the area of both shapes seprately then add.

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

area of rectangle= 16

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

now to find the area of the trap. the formual is A=(h(b_1+b_2))/2

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

the highet is 10, base 1 is 1 and base 2 is 4.

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

1+4=5

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

A=(10(5))/2

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

50/2

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

25

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

the area of the trapazoid is 25 and now add it to the area of the rectangle...and you get25+16=41

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

the area of the shaded area is 41feet^2

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

now to find the unshaded all we have to do is subtract shaded area from the total area which is 8*16=128

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so then the area for the unshaded is 87?

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

128-41= 87

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

Yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):
