I'm in your shoes. I got lucky because my textbook comes with a study guide in each chapter. I have a notebook where I write down the important definitions for each chapter, then draw diagrams if necessary and write down/answer a few sample problems for each chapter. (I'm in 7th grade too, but I'm in an advanced program so I'm currently taking 10th grade Geometry. This system works really well.)

I believe learning in song would help, if you want to have fun with it.

For example, I myself sung a beat saying "8*7=56!" over and over again. It became an earworm and now I zoom through problems with 8*7!
