Can someone please explain to me how you use the distance formula and slope formula to classify a quadrilateral and triangle

OpenStudy (star109):

The distance formula will help you to determine if the side of the shape are equal in length. For example, if you have 3 points A, B, and C and you use the distance formula and plug in point A and point B, the plug in point B and point C, and then point A to C into the distance formula. If you get the same answer for all three then your triangle is a equilateral triangle. The slope formula will help you to determine if the lines are parallel or perpendicular. If the slope is the same then the lines are parallel. If the answer is negative of the reciprocal of each other then the two lines are perpendicular.
