OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

Solve and graph the absolute value inequality: |2x + 4| > 14 Choices: http://prntscr.com/7043xj @JackofallTradez @matlee I know D isn't right because I put that before and got it wrong.

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Well, we know 2x+4>14 or 2x+4<−14 2x+4>14 (Possibility 1) 2x+4−4>14−4 (Subtract 4 from both sides) 2x>10 2x > 10 -- --- 2 2 (Divide both sides by 2) x > 5

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Possibility 2: 2x+4<−14(Possibility 2) 2x+4−4<−14−4(Subtract 4 from both sides) 2x<−18 2x < -18 --- ---- 2 2 (Divide both sides by 2) x < −9 Answer: x>5 or x<−9

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

That leaves me going between A and B... I think lol

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Well which one is it?\[A~or~B\]

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

I'm leaning more towards B... I'm not sure, it's been 5 months since i've done this unit.

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Well B is Incorrect, so that makes the answer A. The line graph is separated just like choice A

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

What about open and closed circles though? I thought the -9 circle on A was incorrect...

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Closed circles are when they are Less-than or Equal to/ Greater-than or Equal to

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

Ah, okay. Thanks.

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Yeah, No Problem :)
