A climatologist wants to determine the thickness of a glacier with a surface area of about 2 km2. He selected 12 locations at random on the glacier and then measured the thickness of the glacier, in meters, at each location. 29, 41, 38, 36, 29, 34, 44, 46, 43, 35, 40, 47 What is the estimated median thickness of the entire glacier?
well median is the same as the middle number so you have to put all the numbers in the set in order from least to greatest and then the middle one is your median
either 38 & 40. or 38
okay so do you know what you do when you have 2 medians?
kinda lol
lol so what do you kinda know?
add those two numbers together and then divide by two
right?
yup ^_^
:). I got 39
yup that should be the answer
I know that this question is closed but I just want to say that you dont actually have to add the numbers together and divide by two. You could just figure out what number is the most in between like 38 and 40, obviously it would be 39. Then see something like 6 and 7, well the answer would be 6.5 because thats right down the middle. See what I'm getting at?
