this is what he did do Charlemagne organized kingdom, church and nobility around himself, trying to create central government. He endowed monastic schools and created other centers of learning for the liberal arts. By making himself protector of the Papacy, Charlemagne gained the status of Emperor and tried to continue the glory of the Roman Empire. He attempted to standardize legal proceedings throughout his realm and acted as supreme judge of appeals.
