OpenStudy (igreen):

What did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I ended up getting x=7 but the answer is supposed to be a fraction and I am so confused.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Okay, first we can cross multiply.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Do you know how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep

OpenStudy (igreen):

Okay, tell me what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For 7x3 i got 21 and then I did 1x4x-1 and got 3x

OpenStudy (igreen):

That's incorrect, \(\sf 1(4x - 1)\) Remember, anything times 1 is itself.

OpenStudy (igreen):

7 * 3 is correct.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

so now you have : 4x - 1 = 21 continue and solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x=7

OpenStudy (igreen):

No.. we ad 1 to both sides.

OpenStudy (igreen):

add*

OpenStudy (igreen):

How did you get 7? @DenishaH

OpenStudy (igreen):

You subtracted 4 - 1 and divided 3 to 21?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xD i think my head is gonna expload
