Mr. Morton's car used 4 gallons of gasoline on a 100-mile trip. At that rate, how many gallons would it use on a 150-mile trip? A. 5 gallons B. 6 gallons C. 7 gallons D. 8 gallons

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well, if it takes 4 gallons to go 100 miles...how many miles would you go with just 1 gallon?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

50?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Not quite...it makes sense that if you go 100 miles....on 4 gallons of gas...then you effectively went \[\large \frac{100miles}{4 gallons} = 25\frac{miles}{gallon}\] right?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

oh

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

So knowing that with 1 gallon of gas...you can go 25 miles... how many gallons would it take to go 150 miles?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

6

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Perfect :)

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

yay...thx
