HELP!!!! FAN + MEDAL!!!!
Gather a set of data. Choose a small sample, between 10 and 20 pieces of data, and a simple value to measure, such as the ages of visitors in a park, or the number of text messages each person in your family receives in one day. Choose a display for your data, such as a frequency table, line plot, histogram, or bar graph. Display your data in your chosen format in a way that is misleading. You may use inconsistent (unequal) intervals, an uneven scale, and so on. Use your display to draw a misleading inference about the data. Display your data in the same format, this time making sure that it is not misleading. Use this display to explain how your first display was misleading. Use a data measure, such as mean, median, mode, or range, to draw a misleading inference about your data. Explain why the measure is misleading.
;(
@Surana can you help?
I had an almost finished reply and then my computer glitched and it all disappeared. I'll retype a simplified version but it'll take a few mins
awww its ok and thanks :D
First graph involves twenty people working, with their productivity on a chart. The chart appears to show them getting a lot of work done, but is misleading as the graph uses smaller numbers than the total, making it seem as if they get more work done than usual. Is that basically what you were asking for?
this is a project but maybe that will help thanks :D i hate math projects... ;/
It's no fun for me either.
lol :)
im thinking of doing a bar graph
That sounds like a good idea.
thanks :)
Ages of rescued cats from Main Street Age | ID # ____|_____ 2 w | 123 3 w | 456 4 m | 789 5 w | 124 6 d | 457 7 y | 780 8 w | 125 9 d | 457 10 w| 781 11 m| 126 Accurate: Age | ID# _____________ 14 d | 123 21 d | 456 122d | 789 35 d | 124 6 d | 457 2556 d| 780 56 d | 125 9 d | 458 70 d | 781 334 d | 126 Incorrect inference: all cats were under 12 weeks of age Correct inference: all cats are under 366 weeks of age The first display was misleading because it gave ages in days, weeks, months and years, instead of all in days, like in the second display.
Woah... is that the whole project?!?!? :D
Impressive.
shes really gifted! i can't even do that! xD
You asked a question and I did my best to answer it. My only request is that you spend the time to do this for another student on here someday. BTW my IQ test says that I'm profoundly gifted, so you are correct. (I'm working on my math and history credits right now @ age 13. It's tough- had a nervous breakdown yesterday over a math test)
Nice work.
lol thanks so much!!! :D i couldn't have done this without you!
It was hhopke who did the heavy lifting here, not me.
The only part of the question I didn't answer was the last one. You have to do that part. Sorry!
its ok i can do one little part you did the rest which im really thankful of! xD
:D
based on your answer @hhopke i think im going to do a frequency table :)
That was the plan- on my first answer I made a full table but this time I did a quick T-chart.
lol thanks :D
Glad I could help.
:D
