The scale factor is the “fraction” created when comparing the original figure to the dilated figure using corresponding dimensions of each figure, and the fraction also needs to be in simplified form: Your original figure length of MN is 2, and the dilated figure’s length of MN is 8, so create a fraction using that form: 2/8. Now, simplify the fraction by dividing the numerator and denominator by 2: 2÷2 / 8÷2 =1/4
