hould we clone animals? Is genetic engineering a good idea? Should people choose mates for animals for specific reasons? Each of these processes has advantages and disadvantages. For this assessment, you will make a decision as to whether you support or do not support each process. You may support one, or two, or all. Maybe you don’t support any of these processes. Make a decision on each process individually. Please write a letter to a friend. In this letter, you will describe each process and tell the friend why you either support the use of the process or believe that the process should not be used. Your letter might start off something like this....

now I need help on everything :) Lets get started !

Advantages: genetic engineering will result in hybrids. hybrids may result in a better breed due to the scientists' choices to combine two or more different organisms with certain desirable traits. examples of hybrids is corn (maize was originally pretty close to being inedible, it was solid and hard to digest- scientists altered it and combined it with some american species of maize) Also, combining fruits will result in increased availability of certain vitamins or nutrients in the fruit, so that benefits us. Disadvantages: genetic engineering goes against nature as a whole. According to evolution, things should really happen on its own. When we go and genetically alter organisms to get more desirable traits, we're doing evolution's work, and evolution should be something gradual. other than that though, i'm not sure there's that much of a disadvantage...i mean i guess experiments could always go wrong, but what doesn't? a lot of the things we eat today are genetically engineered..like soy beans, sugar cane, etc. bandanna cloning is just...well, cloning. i mean that's more based on your morals. i'm not sure i find it very problematic.
