OpenStudy (viixxen):

"Find sin A, cos A, tan A, sin B, cos B, and tan B for the triangle below." Thank you! (:

OpenStudy (viixxen):

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well first...do we know the rules for the trig functions with a right triangle?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

If not, there is a little way to remember it SOA CAH TOA Breaking that down we have S in O pposite H ypotenuse C os A djacent H ypotenuse T angent O pposite A djacent So we can see that \[\large sin\theta = \frac{opposite}{hypotenuse}\] \[\large cos\theta = \frac{adjacent}{hypotenuse}\] \[\large tan\theta = \frac{opposite}{adjacent}\]

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

So for your triangle |dw:1430518888296:dw|

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

To find sinA cosA tanA etc...we look at the angle A... |dw:1430518952526:dw| and we use the rules...

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

For example Sin(A) = opposite / hypotenuse so we look at our triangle |dw:1430519004899:dw| So sin(A) would = 30 / 78 and you keep going like that
