OpenStudy (khalilforthewin):

sure

OpenStudy (khalilforthewin):

a) Not sure what you're asking by "how long". The probability of throwing one on the first throw is lower than one being thrown by the 12th throw. Are you looking for a particular threshold? b) The probability of throwing a 7 on any roll is 6/36 or 1/6. So the probability of throwing one on the first throw is also 1/6. c) Same as b). The probability of doing it on the fourth roll is 1/6 d) The probability of not throwing one is 5/6, so the probability of not throwing one by the fourth roll is 1 - (5/6)^4 e) (5/6)^10

OpenStudy (khalilforthewin):

i hoped that helped you

OpenStudy (khalilforthewin):

so mine didnt help you?

OpenStudy (khalilforthewin):

maybe this site will help you http://www.jiskha.com/search/index.cgi?query=DICE+ROLL+PROBABILITY

"b and c are asking two different things, yet you got the same answer." What if I asked you to flip a coin, and asked these two questions: a) What are the odds of throwing heads 2 times in a row? b) what are the odds of throwing tails two times in a row? Two different questions, yet they have the same answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c and d are different but b and c aren't

OpenStudy (khalilforthewin):

thank you

OpenStudy (khalilforthewin):

but it doesn't matter if something isn't being taken away to change the probability

OpenStudy (khalilforthewin):

I'm sorry I couldnt help you but thats the best i could do i helped you through it and gave you a website to help you get the answer
