Determine if the graph is symmetric about the x-axis, the y-axis, or the origin.

any ideas? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it's the origin but i'm not sure

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

hmm... origin symmetry is when every part has a matching part so this means: - it has the same distance from the central point - BUT in the opposite direction. So for e.g. http://prntscr.com/70w0sc i've drawn out your x and y -axis here: http://prntscr.com/70vzsx

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

the red line represents the x-axis. So looking at the red line, does it perfectly cut the shape in half..or so they look like reflections of each other?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

reflections..so the symm is over the x axis?

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

yeeep :) The symmetry is over the x-axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!!! :)

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

no problem :D!
