Help with multiplying vectors

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

if v=(-5,-3), -5||v||^2 is this saying find the magnitude, and then square it and multiply it by -5?

OpenStudy (loser66):

Post the whole question, please. The original one, don't interpret anything.

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

that is actually what was given lol

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

Thats why I was confused

OpenStudy (loser66):

If \(\vec v=(-5,-3)\), find \(-5||v||^2\), right?

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

yes i would assume it meant find -5||v||^2

OpenStudy (loser66):

yup

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

so sqrt(-5)^2+(-3)^2=sqrt34

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

so it would be just 34 * -5?

OpenStudy (loser66):

yup

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

so final answer would be -170?

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Yes.

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

Thank you :D
