Medal for checking my answer.... At the Cinco de Mayo festival a taco costs $0.85, a burrito $0.60, a taquito $1.15 and a soda $0.75. Luigi and Maria have $8.30. A. Each of them wants to buy a soda, and the rest of the money they want to buy tacos. Write and solve an equation to find the number of tacos that Luigi and Maria can buy. B. What is the greatest number of burritos that Luigi and Maria can buy, if each of them buys a soda, and they share a taquito and a taco? Write and solve an inequality that shows the greatest number of burritos that Maria and Luigi can buy.

My answers: A. $0.75 + 0.85x = $8.30 x = 8 tacos B. $0.75(2) + $1.15 + $0.85 + $0.60x < $8.30 x < 8 burritos

What's your solution: I get since they want to each get a soda (2 x 0.75=1.5) $1.50+$0.85x=$8.30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get x to be exactly 8 instead of your answer which had and a decimal, but that's really 8 so it works out either way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now for part b 2(0.75) (soda)+ 1.15(taquito)+0.85(taco)+0.6x(burrito<8.30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.5+0.6x<8.3

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

So am I correct for both of them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.6x<4.8 x<8 yeah you're right
