What does Shirley Jackson accomplish by using stock Characters in "The Lottery" instead of complex characters please help me!!!!!

OpenStudy (tinylittlehelper):

In ANY story, if someone makes a character simple, that makes any feelings obvious, which can result in a theme readers can point out.

OpenStudy (foxracer62):

I don't understand heres the options readers meet many different stock characters in the lottery readers focus on the mysterious plot event instead of the characters readers know that each charcter plays an importaint role in the story readers desire to learn more anout each stock characters motications

OpenStudy (foxracer62):

@TinyLittleHelper

OpenStudy (tinylittlehelper):

I think the first one is correct because using simple characters allows you to meet many of them without forgetting. I'm guessing, because I've NEVER read this book before.

OpenStudy (foxracer62):

ok thx

Mehek (mehek14):

@tinylittlehelper it's not a book, it's a short story

Mehek (mehek14):

and each character represents something in real life

OpenStudy (tinylittlehelper):

oh.

OpenStudy (foxracer62):

so which ones of the options is right @Mehek14

Mehek (mehek14):

how many can you choose?

OpenStudy (foxracer62):

1

Mehek (mehek14):

well I would say C because the characters do represent different things in the story

OpenStudy (foxracer62):

thx
