The perimeter of a rectangle is twice the sum of its length and its width. The perimeter is 22 meters and its length is 2 meters more than twice its width. Whats it's length?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dan815

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2x+2y = 22\] x= length y = width \[x = 2y +2\] becomes a system of equations at this point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perimeter = 22, it says the perimeter of a rectangle is twice the sum of its length and its width , so we get 2x+2y = 22, and its length is 2 meters more than twice its width, so we get x = 2y+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now you can use any method to do the systems of equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=3..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I'm trying to find the length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Once you figure out the width, plug it in any of the original equations and find the length.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its 8?(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sounds good :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for helping! 5 stars for you!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait youre not a QH ):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's ok :)

OpenStudy (dan815):

=] u can rate me again bahaha

OpenStudy (dan815):

ill draw u some pics xD
