What were the factors responsible for shifting the opinions of many Americans to favor a stronger national government after 1788?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After the revolution, the government holding the thirteen colonies together was extremely weak. The Articles of Confederation in 1777 tried to solve this, but held too many problems. Thus the Constitution was written up in 1781, strengthening the US's government and filling in the holes that the AOC missed. American colonists had previously been under monarchical rule, so by 1788 and after, they favored a strong national government ( a constitutional democracy) that had been established with the new Constitution.
