Sending JSON to a Java Server issue?

- I am getting entire page back as a "response" and my dynamodb table doesn't seem to be filling any data.

Have your program print what it's receiving to stderr to check that it's getting what you expect. Then concentrate on getting the data into the DB. Forget about the output until the input and processing are right. Then just output what's dynamic. Let the static stuff be plain HTML so the artists can redesign it without bothering you.
