I am studying, "Area comparisons of polygons" the lesson says, "The ratio of the area of two similar triangles is equal to the square of the ratio of the length of any two corresponding sides." And then just a bunch of examples. Can someone ex[plain this to me?

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

since length/width is 1 dimension and area is 2 dimensions you need to square the first dimenion to reach the 2nd right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

so that is what its talking about

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

it is just the ratios then compared like a proportion using that logic
