If someone could walk me through the steps to simplify this, that would be great. :) (It's a fraction) x^2+3x+2 ------------ x+2

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

factor the top first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First factor by grouping

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so (x+2)(x+1) ?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

yes

OpenStudy (triciaal):

write your fraction and cancel like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+2)(x+1) --------- x+2 Cancel out the like terms so take out (x+2) and x+2? Then the answer would be x+1?

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

yes the (x+2) cancels out and you are left with just x+1
