Bazaars are permanent marketplaces that are mostly found in the Middle East and in southern Asia. There, people can trade and sell their goods and services. This type of market has been around for centuries. The largest bazaar in the world can be found in Tehran, the capital of Iran. It is called the Grand Bazaar and extends about 10 km. Even though it is the largest bazaar, it is the newest in the Middle East. It was built about 200 years ago. In the past, not only were there stores within the bazaar, but there were also mosques, a place of worship, and banks. Before, the bazaar was split into different areas. Each area was assigned a specialty, such as paper, spices, and jewelry. Today, the bazaar is not much different from before. Now, it relies on tourists for much of its income. 1.
