similes are comparing two unlike things using like or as. Metaphor are also comparing two unlike things but metaphors don't use like or as. Onomatopoeia is describing sounds. Oxymoron(my favorite) is using a word then using another word but is the opposite (example adult baby). Alliteration(tongue twisters) same constant letter in the beginning of a word. Hyperbole I making a big exaggeration usually with humor. Personification is giving an unanimated objects human characteristics.
