The eukaryotes include ourselves, other animals, plants and fungi and a rich variety of micro-organisms (protists). The protists include parasites that are so successful as to compromise the economies of entire countries. Eukaryotes visibly influence the nature of our world. Our concepts of beauty, logic and spirit are arguably derived from our observations of the eukaryotes.

The Eukaryote group is so large that it has 4 groups, 3 subgroups and 24 smaller subgroups that just go deeper in to the classification system. Eukaryote includes the organisms that most people are familiar with all animals, plants, fungi, and protists. They also include the vast majority of the organisms that paleontologist work with. Although they show unbelievable diversity in form, they share fundamental characteristics of cellular organization,biochemistry, and molecular biology.
