First plug point (5, -2) and m = 2/5 into slope intercept form y = mx + b -2 = (2/5)(5) + b -2 = 2 + b Subtract 2 from both sides b = -4 This yields y = (2/5)x - 4 Next manipulate the equation into standard form which is Ax + By = C Where A,B and C are integers and A is positive Multiply both sides of y = (2/5)x - 4 by 5 5y = 2x - 20 Subtract 5y from both sides 2x - 5y - 20 = 0 Add 20 to both sides 2x - 5y = 20 <-----
