Please help! What is the gain of a component?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please, I want a simple explanation of the theory of Tevenn

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

In general the gain of an electronic component, for example a transistor, is given by the subsequent ratio: \[\Large gain = \frac{{{V_{out}}}}{{{V_{in}}}}\] where V_out is the output voltage, and V_in is the input voltage
