(5 pt) The rectangular floor of a storage building had a length of 25 yards and a perimeter of 90 yards. A construction crew knocked out one wall and extended the length of the floor by 10 yards. What was the area of the new floor? A. 500 yd2 B. 1400 yd2 C. 750 yd2 D. 700 yd2

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

Since we know that one side is 25 yards and that the perimeter is 90 and that this is a rectangle, we could duplicated 25 and subtract from 90

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

so, 25+25+ ___+___ = 90. then, once you find the value of the question mark, add 10 to it. Then, find area by multiplying the lengthened side (?+10) and 25. Then you'll get your answer :)

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

@jordanjamesbay let me know if this makes sense :)

ok ya i does a little

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

alright. So what does the question mark equal?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

@jordanjamesbay

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

well, 90-50 equals 40. So each side will equal 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k thx

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

no problem..make sure you add 10 to 20. then multiply 30 and 25. You'll get the answer :) @jordanjamesbay let me know if that makes sense
