Which sentence is punctuated correctly? A. The passenger train makes stops in: Boston, Hartford, and New York City. B. Josiah went to see a musical with: Natalie, Jaden, and Delilah. C. This warm-up exercise is useful for actors, singers, and public speakers. D. That piece of furniture is made of three types of wood pine, oak, and cedar.
@Kidthatbro8
you can eliminate D, because "three types of wood pine, oak, and cedar" would have to have a colon in it, like so "three types of wood: pine, oak, and cedar" of the three, what do you think?
I think it is A
Pretty sure it's C.. but i could be wrong. I don't think the colon is used correctly in A.
it's not A, because colons must have an independent clause in front of them, but do not have to have an independent clause after them. the only place in a clause where we should put a colon is a place where we could logically put a period.
i think it would be C or D
@andreaevelynn, we cannot give answers, but i just narrowed down some. what do you think?
c
yes, because there is no use for a colon in B.
Why can't we give answers? Isn't this what this site is for?
we have to help a person to get to the answer, not give them so they don't learn.
it's not a big deal. lol
just saying, because i got in trouble for it when i joined this place. (:
I've seen it all over people asking for help & others giving the answers. I haven't seen anywhere that anyone has gotten in trouble. If she closes this question now, so no one sees it, then i guess we don't have a problem. :)
