Wait, history of a toilet? I think that the basics could be best described as "humans needed to do their business and someone invented plumbing, toilets and a way to put both together". It's not my strong suit, this case. Ask me about a conflict or historical figure, but this, not so much.

The flushing toilet was invented by John Harrington in 1596. Joseph Bramah of Yorkshire patented the first practical water closet in England in 1778. George Jennings in 1852 also took out a patent for the flush-out toilet.
