Can someone help me set this up? I will medal and fan. A school District needs 3 teachers for every 70 children. They expect to have 14,700 children in the district next year. At this time the have 612 teachers. How many more teachers are needed?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Set up a proportion.

OpenStudy (igreen):

\(\sf \dfrac{3}{70} = \dfrac{x}{14700}\) Cross multiply and solve for 'x'.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Can you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah i can. Thank you!

OpenStudy (igreen):

Okay, after you find 'x', that will be the number of teachers they need, so subtract it from 612 to see how many more they need.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18 teachers. Thank you very much

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, you got it..
