Can somebody help explain how to solve inequalities please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to know this In mathematics, an inequality is a relation that holds between two values when they are different

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Absolute Value Inequality, Compound Inequality ,Inequality ,Quadratic inequality ,Triangle Inequality Property which of these do you need to know ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To solve 4y<16 you would divide both sides by 4 to get 1y <4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats one way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, any value of y that is less than 4 makes the original inequality true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 2 4(2)<16 or 8<16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw reverse the inequality sign when multiplying or dividing each side by a negative number.
