The graph below plots the values of y for different values of x: Which correlation coefficient best matches the data plotted on the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-0.5 0 0.25 0.90

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its pretty well correlated isnt it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess im not really sure

OpenStudy (amistre64):

does it look like a nice straight line? or is everything scattered everywhere willy nilly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah its constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it wouldnt be negative

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its rising upwards, so it wont be negative and since its all nice and almost in line, the correlation between x and y is almost 1 to 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be D

OpenStudy (amistre64):

let me do a little review for that, but as a first thought id lean towards D yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

http://stattrek.com/statistics/correlation.aspx yeah, the stronger or more apparent the line is, the bigger the correlation coeff.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we have a pretty well visually looking line here, so it should be close to 1
