Frank needs to memorize words on a vocabulary list for French class. He has memorized 6 of the words, which is two-thirds of the list. How many words are on the list?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 2 ---- = ---- X 3 18 = 2x 18/2 = 9 X = 9 Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay so the answer is 9 then?

OpenStudy (pandagurl):

I would say it is 9 because 6/2= 3 and 3x3=9. @StudyGirl21 said it better though XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. :)

thanks

Here's another way of thinking of it. 6 words are 2/3 of the list. Since 1/3 is half of 2/3, then 3 words are 1/3 of the list. If 1/3 of the list is 3 words, the whole list is 3 times 3 words which is 9 words.
