(Just going to assume you're on a different tab or something). Anyways, it wouldn't be natural disasters or weather. Those two would impact the population at a very small amount, and it wouldn't happen over time, but just at once. Genes could possibly be the answer, but it always comes back to natural selection :)

Natural selection is the gradual process by which heritable biological traits become either more or less common in a population as a function of the effect of inherited traits on the differential reproductive success of organisms interacting with their environment. It is a key mechanism of evolution. which takes a while so it's B.
