It's just the system overflowing with too much information. The reason it lags is because of the amount of people using the site at once. Usually towards the evening it never lags.

yes, many people have questioned the stability of this site ^_^
and in fact, openstudy has gotten much much better over the past year!
I remember back in the day where the site would crash in midterms session from too many people online o-o
