how many faces does a cube have? i don't know how to find the lateral area but i can help you with the surface area

OpenStudy (lizz123):

6 squares that is okay he said just the square area

OpenStudy (lizz123):

6 faces

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do you need the surface area,

OpenStudy (lizz123):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, you know how to find the area of a square, right

OpenStudy (lizz123):

yeah the square area is length*width*height

OpenStudy (lizz123):

not unless if you want the square that is kind of 3D which is SA=2LW+2LH+2WH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's finding the volume of a rectangular figure. to find the area of a SQUARE (not a cube) you simply do x^2, or in this case, 9^2, or 9x9

OpenStudy (lizz123):

81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, and since the cube has 6 square faces, you multiply the area of a square face (81) by 6, and you get your surface area

OpenStudy (lizz123):

SA=486

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, you're correct

OpenStudy (lizz123):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem
