Well, an earthquake of that magnatude would only be felt a little bit. According to your scale it would only be felt by a few people. So, I would suggest a family out in California at a restaurant or on the freeway that felt the earthquake. If they were at the restaurant they could say a lot of the dishes on shelves fell off and the ground was shaking and a lot of people were scared. And then you could talk about the Mercalli scale and what people should/did feel as the ground shook

We are gathered here in San Francisco today after experiencing a small, but effective earthquake here today. This earthquake is known as a IV scaled earthquake on the Mercalli scale, meaning that it was only big enough for those in the San Francisco area to feel it. We are surrounded by many frightened people here today and we are not completely sure if another earthquake might occur.
As we interviewed a few families and locals present on this day, it is reported that quite a few people had been affected by this earthquake. There have also been a several reported incidents of objects being knocked of shelves and counters. A near by restaurant has lost hundreds of dollars due to broken china, and platters. All in all, this earthquake has proved to be a safety hazard to all those around.
