volume of a torus using an integral...?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

shells?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1431046490831:dw|

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what have you tried?

OpenStudy (math2400):

ok i see lemme try to work with that.

OpenStudy (math2400):

ok i think what's tripping me is the fact that i don't have any x or a function to work with. I have a graph and that's it...how can i make an integral using just that.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, do you want to work shells or washers? or some polar integration?

OpenStudy (math2400):

my goal is to find the volume. I'm fine with working with shells or washers but i prefer washers. Doesn't matter either way haha

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how we orientate it is immaterial, as long as our spin and object remain the same, placement is irrelevant so make it simpler for you. spose we wanted to do shells |dw:1431047053989:dw|
