first find the radius of the semicircle wish is 1/2 of the diameter then use this value to find the area formula for the area = 1/2 * 3.14 * radius
what do you get?
So 21/2
10.5
right that's the radius now you need to put radius = 10.5 into the formula for area and work it out

Well we've worked out that the radius ( r ) = 10.5 right? :) So since we are trying to work out the area of the patio, we need to use the area of a circle formula: |dw:1431093245671:dw| (note- we only need to find out what 1/2 the area of the circle is because the patio is a semi-circle and not a full circle )
