that means for a one-to-one there is only one value of y for every value of x
many-to-one : there maybe 2 or more values of x for one value of y
but a one-to-many relation is NOT a function
for example if you had more than y value of y for one value of x

for example:- a is not a function because x = -1 maps to 3 and also maps to 5
