Edo was an ancient city that is now present day Tokyo. IT was renamed to Tokyo in 1868 and has been the capitol since 1603. The name Edo means bay-entrance in Japanese. It became one of the most popular cities in the world with 1 million people (1721) living in Edo. Present day Edo (Tokyo) has over 13 million people living there, along with tourists from all around the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edo
