Four functions are given below. Either the function is defined explicitly, or the entire graph of the function is shown. For each, decide whether it is an even function, an odd function, or neither.

I can't post the graphs and equations they give me but how can I tell the difference?

are you able to do a screenshot?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well with graphs, if you have symmetry with respect to the y axis, then the function is an even function https://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/images/function-even.gif

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to earlier but it wasn't working =/ I can try drawing them

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you have rotational symmetry with respect to the origin, then it's an odd function http://www2.bc.cc.ca.us/resperic/Math6A/Lectures/ch1/1/evenodd/evenod9.gif

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

functional notation if f(-x) = f(x) is true for all x in the domain, then f(x) is an even function if f(-x) = -f(x) is true for all x in the domain, then f(x) is an odd function
